1958 545 Hofner Mandolin

1958 Hofner 545 Mandolin

I know that you are thinking to yourself  "this guy accidentally posted his picture of the old mandolin upside down".
Not so.....I just thought it was cool the way it looks like an extraterrestrial when viewed like this.

Splendid workmanship and quality materials add up to a beautiful sounding instrument. It still looks like new.
It sounds "OUT OF THIS WORLD"
Sorry I couldn't help myself.........

  1. Trying to restore the exact model now. Neck came of right at the joint with the body. Took it to a music store for repair and after 4 weeks he calls me back and says there's a piece of wood missing. Turns out the luthier had taken a chisel to both ends of the joint removing wood that was meant to be there and now it does need a slim wafer of wood to make it sit properly. Lesson...speak to the luthier yourself and agree with what needs to be done without going through the music store. Sad that they felt the need to lie to me.
